Passport to High School Success
More than 95 students from 7 schools participated in the annual Passport to High School Success (PHSS) Fair, made possible through a partnership between America SCORES Chicago and Changing Worlds (CW). Students from SCORES middle school teams and Changing Worlds art programs gathered at Curie Metropolitan High School for workshops that ranged from career-mapping activities, interview etiquette, conflict resolution, and navigating the new CPS high school application process. Students also met with SCORES and CW program alumni to learn about their current high school experience. This year, the fair kicked off with representatives from more than a dozen high schools who shared information about their academic and extracurricular programs. At the end of the day, students gave feedback that activities were fun, informative, and helped them feel more prepared for high school.
As a community partner to elementary schools, SCORES understands how important it is for students to be academically and socially prepared for high school. We know that we have the unique opportunity to help students set goals today that help them prepare for their future - our staff and coaches help to broaden the network of support for students as they transition from their team to a much bigger playing field. The PHSS Fair and other PHSS activities are made possible through support from United Way of Metropolitan Chicago.
